The decision to book a Deer Valley family ski vacation is a no brainer thanks to its varied, well-dispersed terrain, which accommodates skiers of all ages and ability, and its numerous family-friendly services− including a state-licensed children’s center. Kids and parents, alike, will truly enjoy skiing at Deer Valley.
Condos and townhomes are the best bet for families on a Deer Valley ski vacation, they offer plenty of room, all the amenities of home, including a washer/dryer and a two car garage, and plenty of privacy.
Lakeside town-homes offer spacious common areas, outdoor heated pool and hot tub, making this unit an ideal choice for families. The townhomes recently received a remodel, and now feature new kitchens, bathrooms and furniture. The property is only a fourth of a mile from the Deer Valley base area, and just a short drive to downtown Park City.
While the Deer Valley dining options trend heavily towards the expensive and gourmet, there are some great options for families. For a nice, sit-down lunch the whole family will enjoy, be sure to stop in at Royal Street Café. There are a couple kid-friendly options like chicken quesadillas and cheeseburgers. Bald Mountain Pizza is also sure to please the whole family, with gourmet pizza, soups, salads and scrumptious Panini’s.
Families can explore the mountain together and even make a game out of finding the historic “mining” markers and children’s adventure zones together on the map. There are also several race courses scattered all over the resort that both parents and kids can participate in. Plus if everyone is in the family is an expert skier, be sure to take a run on one of the 2002 Winter Olympics venue runs.
Flagstaff and Lady Morgan are great areas for families with varying degrees of ability, as there are beginner, intermediate and expert trails that intersect and meet back up at the chairlifts. Flagstaff is also chalk full of children’s adventure zones, which are tree trails that have wildlife and environmental education information for kid’s enjoyment and learning. Families should also check out the interactive Children’s Trail Map, which provides little tidbits about the area’s mining history and wildlife.
Kids, just like adults, experience a world-class instruction via the Deer Valley Children’s Ski School. Children will have an absolute ball while they learn to improve their skiing; friendly instructors will show them natural and man-made features, meandering tree trails and help them spot Deer Valley’s fuzzy mascots. Deer Valley Children’s Ski School is committed to instilling wildlife and environmental awareness as a part of their on-mountain instruction, which adds another element of fun and learning for kids.
