“Kitz,” as the locals call it, boasts a storied ski history. Over a century ago—in the winter of 1893—skiing began in Kitzbühel. Consistent northwesterly snow provides Kitzbuhel with a reliable snowpack from December to April, but because the bottom section of the resort is situated at 2,640 feet the snow conditions can be variable. However, investments of 250 million Euro over the last couple of yearshave improved that issue immensely. Beginners and intermediates should not let Kitzbuehel’s status as host to the most difficult World Cup event intimidate them. The Hahnenkamm is leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of Kitzbuehel’s terrain, in terms of difficulty. In fact, Kitzbuehel is considered an intermediate skier’s paradise.
Amazing and Wonderful first time European Ski Trip with my family in Kitzbuhel, AustriaI was planning my family's first ever ski trip to Europe. Normally I am a do it yourself trip organizer, but I was having no luck finding accommodations for my time period or understanding anything about skiing in Europe. By chance I contacted Ski.com and worked with Anthony who was amazing. He found the perfect hotel for us. Helped with lift tickets, ski rentals, and made some excellent suggestions and recommendations. I always worry that something is going to go wrong and nothing went wrong! It was absolutely perfect and seamless. I will definitely use Ski.com again. I am already recommending them to my friends and family.
My favorite ski resort in EuropeWe stayed in Kitzbuehel several times on a ski holiday. We have tried other ski resorts, but we have always gone back to Kitz. There is something for everybody, miles of skiing, easy transport to other ski locations, kids, night life, shopping, casino, there is something for everyone. Our favorite hotel is Kaiserhof, Best Western Hotel few steps away from the Hahnenkamm lifts. Excellent food, friendly atmosphere and close to everything.
Great Skiing & Lots of NightlifeThis is a great place for a fun trip. Interesting town with lots of charm in the "old town". The bars are lots of fun both apres ski and later on. Ski bus takes you to great skiing and back. Good on-slope restaurants. One of the best resorts in Europe in my opinion.
